BEYOND THE BUNCH
Living space|December 2023
From wreaths to posies, flowers are a quick and easy way to light up a room and all you need is a store-bought bunch (or two) and a touch of creativity.

BEYOND THE BUNCH

You've planned the menu weeks in advance. You've chilled the wine. Now it's time to beautify your home - and nothing suits a bright summer day better than fresh blooms. If you're planning to decorate with flowers, you'll know that they're as pricey as they are beautiful. What's more, a bunch or two won't get you very far if you want more than just one focal point arrangement. So, how do you make it look like you splashed out at the florist without breaking the bank?

TOP TIP

There's no need to replace an entire wreath just because the flowers have drooped. Start with a wicker base that looks attractive on its own, then add hardy flowers that can be swapped out for new ones as needed.

LESS IS MORE

You can take some inspiration from the Japanese art of ikebana. This involves arranging just one or two flowers in perfect harmony. Sparse arrangements like this, using only a few flowers, can be very striking. But if complete minimalism isn't your vibe, divide those bunches into smaller bouquets and show them off in beautiful vases, cups or bowls.
