Reading the script for her new project, The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race, for the first time, Claire van der Boon recalls “giggling out loud” and feeling extremely “moved at the end”.

Drawn in particular to the plot’s community dynamics, the actress tells New Idea she thought the script was very “well-rounded” – something she admits can be rare.

Based on the popular stage play by Melanie Tait (who also wrote the screenplay), The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race centres around Claire’s character, Penny Anderson.
