LYNDA STONER: 'THERE'S POWER IN SAYING NO'

Lynda Stoner bursts out laughing as she tries to recall how her iconic character on The Young Doctors, nurse Kim Barrington, exited the hugely popular medical drama.

“I did a Google search, and it seems I was shot, but it’s all a bit of a blur as it’s so long ago,” says Lynda.

The actress became a household name on the hit soap, which ran for a whopping 1397 episodes before it was served a terminal diagnosis in 1983.

Later in life, Lynda found a new calling as an animal rights activist. Looking back on her time at Albert Memorial Hospital, she remembers The Young Doctors set being a “happy place to work and with a beautiful heart”.

“Most of us were so young and thrilled to be working on a successful show,” Lynda, 69, tells us. “This is my bad, but it was hard at times to stop laughing, even during serious scenes – you could sometimes see my shoulders heaving as I tried to suppress laughter.”
