As parents and parents-to-be, one of the hardest challenges is deciphering through the enormous amount of information on the internet about what is ‘safe in pregnancy’. This is made worse by all the misinformation from well-meaning ‘family experts’ on all sorts of motherhood matters!
So when it comes to drinking alcohol during pregnancy, how much is too much and what can you do in times where you feel social pressure?

I was a mum before I was a doctor, so this issue was just as real for me in my first pregnancy as it will be for many of you. Wind back time 17 years to my first pregnancy. I was 22 years old and I still vividly remember being at a friend’s baby shower. The grandmother-to-be handed champagne to everyone, including several of us who were pregnant.
