Pete UNDER PRESSURE!

Veteran newsreader Peter Overton is feeling a tad nervous he could be next to get the proverbial tap on the shoulder amid shake-ups at Channel Nine.
Pete UNDER PRESSURE!

The network has been making several changes within its stable of stars, leading our insider to declare “no-one is safe!”

Having anchored Sydney’s 6pm Nine News since 2009, it’s understandable that Pete, 56, may be worried the big bosses could opt to replace him with a “young gun” eventually, but for now, our insiders say he has “absolutely nothing to worry about”.

“Pete knows the buck stops with him,” tells our insider, adding the newsreader has long been one of the best in the business.

Rumoured to have signed with Nine for another five years, our insider adds that Pete won’t be going anywhere anytime soon because viewers love, respect and trust him. His wife Jessica, 52, agrees.

“Jess is so great,” tells a source. “She’s been reassuring Pete that he has nothing to worry about. He can overcome any challenge.”

IS DICKIE DONE?

Cutting a lonely figure in a Sydney park last week as he took what appeared to be an important phone call, it’s no wonder entertainment king Richard Wilkins is feeling a little stressed.

As one of Nine’s premier performers for almost 40 years, just how the Weekend Today co-host ended up on the backbench remains one of TV’s biggest mysteries.

Earlier this year it was reported that Dickie, 68, might be taking on a reduced role at the network.

Now, our insider says the star had “no chance” the moment Brooke Boney joined Today as entertainment reporter back in 2019.
