KATE IS DETERMINED TO HEAL FOR HER YOUNG
Princess of poise GRACE & COURAGE IN HER DARKEST HOURS

Dressed in a simple striped sweater, and with her famous brown locks falling softly over her shoulders, Catherine, Princess of Wales looked the picture of serenity. Seated in the gardens of Windsor Castle and with the sun shining down on her, the royal was finally addressing the world after weeks of speculation about her health and whereabouts. But what came next was truly shattering.

In a video message shared to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media accounts, Kate announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer following the major abdominal surgery she underwent in January.

“At the time, it was thought my condition was non-cancerous,” Kate, 42, explained. “The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.

“My medical team therefore advised I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

Kate’s solemn address laid bare the irrefutable fact that, no matter how privileged one is, cancer can affect absolutely anyone, including England’s next expected queen.

World leaders quickly sent their best wishes. Prime minister Anthony Albanese shared on social media that “Australians are sending support and strength in this difficult time.” He also praised Kate’s “courage” in speaking out.

THINKING OF HER CHILDREN

As the news reverberated across the globe, it almost instantaneously quelled the cruel rumours around Kate’s condition in the weeks since Kensington Palace announced, on January 17, that she had undergone surgery.
