RURAL HEALTHCARE in critical condition!

With thousands of rural and remote Australians in the middle of a crippling healthcare crisis, Alex Cullen has emerged as one of the strongest voices of support.

Growing up on his family’s wheat and sheep property in Coonamble, NSW, the Today presenter knows firsthand the many challenges that come with living on the land. Not afraid to be the voice for struggling rural communities, the usually easygoing dad of three has vowed to help embattled families unable to receive proper medical assistance – before it’s too late.

“I have family in Dubbo who can’t get an appointment and are sick of the extended wait times,” Alex, 42, tells New Idea. “People are forced to take time off work and travel to the city which is nearly six hours away.”

Now living in Sydney with his wife, Bonnie, and their three kids – 4-year-old twins Evie and Audrey and Max, 1 – Alex witnessed the struggle to access medical care during his dad Tom’s battle with brain cancer. Tom passed away in 2018.
