ICY DIPS ARE THE FOUNDATION OF FRIENDSHIP IN THIS UNIQUE SWIM GROUP

Sand, sea and COMMUNITY

The thrill of a sunrise swim is helping a Victorian coastal community tackle mental and physical health issues, while fostering lifelong friendships.

Cheekily dubbed the 'Salty B---hes', the group boasts 1500 members.

Every morning, at the crack of dawn, they meet at different locations along the Bellarine Peninsula to get their salt-water hit.

Founder Sarah Fenton says the group was born by accident after she suffered some physical health issues in September 2020 during the COVID pandemic.

"I've always been an active person so when I needed a hip replacement and could barely walk, I decided to start swimming for my own sanity," Sarah, 52, says.
