THE KERNAGHANS 'OUR BIG BEAUTIFUL LOVE!'

Lee Kernaghan remembers the day he first laid eyes on the love of his life, wife Robby, as clear as it was yesterday.

“It was 1997 … I was playing to a group of motor writing journalists,” the country singer smiles. “I had just finished a sound check on ‘She’s My Ute’ and Robby was booked to come in and sing some ballads and play piano.

“I knew that night I was going to marry Robby,” Lee continues. “I just had an inner knowing that she was the one.”

Twenty-five years later and the flame is still burning as New Idea visits Lee and Robby at their stunning bushland idyll getaway, nestled in the McPherson Range on the border between NSW and Qld.

“It’s where we go to make music and just get back to the land,” Lee, 58, explains.

A new documentary released in cinemas this week, Lee Kernaghan: Boy From The Bush, further heightens the affection the couple have for each other.

“There is so much archival footage showing the early days of our relationship,” says Robby.

Asked to describe their love, both are on the same page.

“It’s huge,” says Robby. “And evolving.”
