How a CEO's biohacking journey led her to pioneer a new approach to health, happiness and harmony, for business leaders in the country

EXECUTIVE WELLNESS

Amid exposure to ice baths, hot saunas, breathwork and talks about superfoods at a biohacking summit in Finland, Yap Yann Fang-founder and CEO of Beauty & Co Clinicfound a sliver of peace and balance. She had gone to the summit without any expectations and when she came back, her physiotherapist asked, "What did you do in Finland? Your body is perfect." Yap shares, "Normally, I always have pain and numbness in my knees."

It's been a journey for Yap-a self-experimentation escapade that has now poised her to revolutionise fitness and wellness for CEOs and business leaders in Malaysia.

For over 20 years, Yap has been a determined entrepreneur navigating the unpredictable world of the beauty and wellness industry. But in 2022, she found herself at a crossroads: her professional success was on the rise, yet her body was asking her to slow down. She was easily tired, had disturbed sleep and experienced general soreness and pain.

In search of a more effective way to age, she delved into research on biohacking and then committed to a year-long journey of biohacking to see if she could truly optimise her body and mind. She travelled the world and met with biohacking experts like Dr Olli Sovijärvi and Teemu Arina-the founder of Biohacker Summit-and attended biohacking summits in Helsinki, London, Amsterdam and Orlando. Additionally, she visited the prestigious Clinique La Prairie in Geneva, Switzerland, seeking to integrate the best practices and insights from these experiences into her biohacking endeavours.

What she unearthed is a biohacking culture that is flourishing worldwide, especially among business leaders, but not so much in Asia.
