When Korean actress Mun Ka-young’s mother was pregnant with her, she had a vivid dream about an archeopteryx, a bird-like dinosaur, taking flight, draped in magnificent jewels—Mun has that image immortalised in the form of a dainty tattoo on her back. In Korean culture, it’s believed that conception dreams can predict a child’s future; in Mun’s case, you could say that the prophecy has been fulfilled. She is now a jet-setting superstar who caught her big break in the hit Korean series True Beauty, and was recently announced as an ambassador for luxury travel, lifestyle and accessories brand, Tumi.
On her Instagram account, where she has more than 12 million followers, she shares a glimpse of her travels as she romanticises the world around her—indulging in desserts (she has a thing for pistachio gelato) and snapping photos of cobblestone streets, flowers and clouds.
We caught up with Mun to find out about her travel routines and must-haves, and which destinations are on her bucket list.
