"Throughout America's history, and still today, Bulova has been a constant presence, producing some of the most imaginative, iconic and innovative timepieces in the world, marking key moments with its timepieces", said Jeffrey Cohen, President of Citizen Watch America, during the recent premiere of a commemorative film that chronicles the American watchmaker's illustrious history. "The brand certainly has broken barriers in watchmaking and positively impacted society, from creating the first school to teach watchmaking to disabled veterans (an activity we continue to support today) to real and authentic marketing campaigns such as 'Equal Pay, Equal Time' in the '70s. After 150 years, Bulova continues to create amazing products.
Its DNA is the reflection of the American Dream that Joseph Bulova embraced." Joseph Bulova, at just 19 years old, embarked on a journey to New York City, bringing with him dreams and determination. Bulova's revolutionary approach to watchmaking, employing the 'American Watchmaking System' in his Bienne, Switzerland, factory earned him the moniker, 'Henry Ford of watchmaking. This innovative method allowed for precise and affordable timepieces, setting Bulova on a path of continual innovation and success. In the 1920s, Bulova crafted the first full line of ladies' jewelled wristwatches, revolutionising the perception of wristwatches from mere accessories to essential timekeeping devices. By 1928, Bulova created the world's first clock radio, merging practicality with entertainment.
