ALVECHURCH’S hierarchy is considering taking a planning battle to a national inspector with the local council no closer to ending a four-year saga.
Step 3 Church owns one-fifth of its Lye Meadow base and plans to build 25 homes there hold the key to funding work required to bring its new home at The Hayes, on the edge of Birmingham City’s training ground, up to scratch.
There have been various complications since the planning application was originally submitted in January 2019 which Church bosses and the owners of the rest of the land agreed to give planning officers more time to resolve.
However, Bromsgrove District Council seems set to miss its latest deadline to come up with a decision, leaving frustrated chairman Richard Thorndike pondering how to cover bills at The Hayes, which hosts much of the club’s activity, and Lye Meadow.
