Kanu's a new king of Shrimpers

SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher hailed the performance of on-loan Charlton Athletic striker Daniel Kanu after his four goals sealed a five-star display against Solihull Moors

Kanu ran riot to condemn Solihull to their first away defeat of the season at Roots Hall.

And Maher was full of praise for the forward’s display. “Daniel is a goalscorer and he knows where to be on the pitch,” he said. “No matter what age you are, goalscorers and goalscorers and credit to him for the goals he got.”

But it was not just Kanu who pleased Maher.

“The whole afternoon was an outstanding performance from the lads,” he added. “We started on the front foot and kept knocking on the door.

“We got the goal we wanted and everything was coming off for us but the lads deserve that for how they went about their business. It was an absolute delight.”
