DELIGHTED assistant manager Danny Webb saluted the ‘courage’ of his Chesterfield troops after they overcame Bromley in a National League play-off semi-final thriller.
The visiting Ravens, down to ten men after Deji Elerewe’s 75th-minute red card, took an action-packed game to extra-time when Michael Cheek struck in the ninth minute of stoppage time.
However, the Spireites put that crushing late blow behind them and Liam Mandeville cracked home the winner 12 minutes into the first period of extra-time.
Webb said: “In all the years I’ve been in football, the feeling I had when Michael Cheek equalised was down there with the lowest – that was tough. Once you compose yourself, you are looking at the players and going ‘what have you got?’.
