There will be four groups of six teams, two from the Gallagher Premiership, two from the United Rugby Championship and two from the Top 14.
They will all play four matches against opponents from different leagues home or away. Because of the World Cup, there will be two rounds in December and the final two the following month.
The round of 16 remains and will be held at the beginning of April, followed by the quarter-finals a week later. The semi-finals will be staged at the beginning of May with the final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on May 25.
The draw will be held at the stadium on Wednesday. Clubs from the same URC shield will not be in the same pool, which means the Irish and South African sides will be kept apart.
