After murder, accused left SUV at friend's home

Rope-bound accused constable Virendrasinh Padheriya taken to crime spot in South Bopal on Thursday, made to retrace his steps

Constable Virendrasinh Padheriya (40), arrested in Punjab for the murder of MICA student Priyanshu Jain (23), was brought back to the crime scene in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon. Padheriya, a resident of South Bopal, was tied with ropes and made to show police how the incident happened.

As crowds gathered to watch the policeman, visibly emotional and bound with ropes, authorities were firm in making him retrace his steps. This sent a strong message that Padheriya would not receive any special treatment despite being a police officer with possible connections to criminal gangs. SP Om Prakash Jat of Ahmedabad Rural confirmed that Padheriya was brought to Ahmedabad from Punjab by the city crime branch for further investigation.
