Just when the whole of India woke up on Wednesday moring with the joy of wrestler Vinesh Phogat winning at least a silver medal, if not gold, came the shocking news of the grappler being disqualified from the day's final.
Phogat weighed 100 grams more than her weight category and hence was disqualified from competing in the final. As per the rules, the medical control and weigh-in for each category takes place in the morning of the first competition day, Tuesday in Phogat's case.
On the second competition day (i.e. Wednesday), wrestlers who have qualified for the finals and repechage are weighed in again.
