CoEs seek more autonomy, longer validity of status

As the Gujarat education department begins inviting applications for Centre of Excellence (CoE) status for the new academic year in 2025, the heads of seven existing CoEs have proposed important changes. These include evaluating CoEs with different parameters, granting them more autonomy in student admissions to enhance diversity beyond the purview of the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), and extending the CoE status validity from the current three years to 10 years.

These changes aim to elevate Gujarat's standing on the national map in terms of quality education and research.
