DACOIT CAUGHT USING BODY HEAT DETECTING DRONE

Citizens arrest one of the two notorious dacoits with 70 offences against them; one hides in thick Dahod forest; cops use drone with thermal camera to catch him

For the first time in Gujarat, a thermal camera was successfully employed to arrest a fleeing criminal. The incident took place during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when a notorious dacoit escaped into the thick forests of Dahod. The Dahod police used a thermal camera loaded on a drone to locate him. The entire operation was recorded live on the camera.

Dahod borders Madhya Pradesh and has dense forests and mountains. Dahod SP Rajdeepsinh Jhala told Mirror that, at about 2 am on Sunday, the dacoits tried to break open the lock of Somnath temple at Luhar Falia in Zalod of Dahod. "The noise of breaking the lock awakened a woman living nearby.

As she raised an alarm, locals rushed to the spot and caught one of the dacoits. However, the other one fled into the dense forest behind the temple. Since the land had become marshy due to recent rains, it was impossible to chase him," Jhala added.
