National Institute of Design's (NID) newly appointed director Ashok Mondal seems to be facing challenges within days of his appointment on October 1. His attempts to assume charge of the NID director's office on Friday, October 9, were met with resistance from the former director.
On Monday, his first full working day, he faced protests from students who camped outside his office, dressed in black. Mondal had reshuffled the majority of the department heads without considering their subject expertise just before the end of the semester, and removed six women heads of departments, leaving only one woman as chairperson.
