The city crime branch and women police cell cracked down on two of the city's most posh roads, CG Road and SG Road, to bust the begging racket run by agents.
Ten children between the ages of 6 and 14 were rescued. Surprisingly, some of the children said they were enrolled in schools and were made to beg after school hours by their parents who were in touch with agents.
ACP Himala Joshi of Mahila police said that with 10 more such children rescued, the total figure has now gone up to 48.
