Police nabbed 223 individuals in the city for drunken driving while 217 were caught in an inebriated condition as the New Year celebrations dawned to a close. Most drunk driving cases were reported from the western parts of the city. In all 558 vehicles were detained for various violations under the Motor Vehicles Act and a total fine of Rs 5.60 lakh was collected from traffic violators.
