This age group, comprising 22.2% of the 243 patients seen in a month, is particularly susceptible to such problems due to sedentary jobs and high stress levels, said doctors.

Data from the Government Spine Institute reveals that the 31-40 age group has the second-highest number of myofascial backache cases, trailing only behind the geriatric (60+) age group. Dr Piyush Mittal, the Institute’s Director, said, “Apart from physical trauma resulting from road accidents, stress and tension are common causes of back pain among younger patients, and such cases are increasing.”
