S Gujarat faces rain fury; Vapi gets 13-inch rains in 24 hours

Hundreds evacuated due to flooding in Vapi; IMD predicts more rain till Tuesday; issues Flash Flood Risk FFR) alerts for various regions

Heavy rainfall lashed South Gujarat causing significant disruptions across several districts over the weekend.

The industrial town of Vapi in Valsad faced major brunt of the monsoon receiving 12.83 inches of rain between Saturday night and Sunday morning, the highest in the state. This heavy downpour caused widespread waterlogging and severely disrupted daily life. Areas such as Kaprada (11.85 inches) and Pardi (11.81 inches) in Valsad also reported heavy rain resulting in swollen rivers.

Other areas in South Gujarat such as Umarpada in Surat ( 11.02 inches), Khergam (10.55 inches), and Dharampur (8.90 inches) also reported heavy rains while Khergam in Navsari recorded 9.76 inches of rain.
