As Ahmedabad gears up for Navratri, the city's SG Highway, a main destination route for "garba revellers", and speed demons, faces a serious safety challenge. Despite police assurances of comprehensive CCTV coverage, a shocking 26 out of 41 cameras are currently non-operational. This lapse in surveillance poses a high risk, particularly during the late-night hours when the highway sees a surge in traffic.
JCP (Traffic) N N Chaudhari acknowledged the urgency of the situation, stating, "Looking at the upcoming festive season and especially Navratri starting September 3, we have written to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and are making all efforts to make all cameras functional.
