BORIS Johnson remains confident that sending asylum seekers to Rwanda is legal – despite court bids to ground the first flight next Tuesday, Downing Street says.

No 10 declared “we will argue our case” at an emergency High Court hearing today.

Lawyers for more than 90 migrants expected on next week’s flight have submitted legal challenges to Home Secretary Priti Patel’s plan – with another 40 expected to follow shortly.

The Daily Express understands that if the flight is delayed, Home Office officials may have to release the asylum seekers being held in detention centres.
