Jeremy Hunt has gone on the offensive, attacking Sir Keir Starmer's desire to hit private schools, energy firms and non-doms with extra levies to pay for his plans.
Labour's blueprint confirms tax rises that will push the burden to a record high. Rishi Sunak has pledged to make £17billion of tax cuts.
Experts warn that council tax, pensions allowances and capital gains are all up for grabs if Sir Keir takes power. The Chancellor said the Labour leader refused to rule out taxing "your job, your home, your pension, your car, your business".
He added: "This is Labour's Tax Trap Manifesto which contains only tax rises and no tax cuts. Under Labour's published plans, taxes will rise to levels never before seen in this country.
"But that's only the tax rises they're telling you about - it doesn't include the £2,094 of tax rises they'll need to fill their £38.5billion unfunded spending commitments.
"So what's most important is not what's in Labour's manifesto, but it's what they have kept out of it. Be under no illusion, from cradle to grave you will pay more taxes under Labour."
The Prime Minister said the manifesto "would mean the highest taxes in history" and added: "If you think they'll win, start saving." At the G7 summit, Mr Sunak added: "Our manifesto has got a ton of bold ideas and it represents a clear plan to deliver a more secure future for the country.
"That starts with cutting tax for people in work, cutting taxes for the self-employed, cutting taxes for pensioners, cutting taxes for people buying their first home and cutting taxes for families.
