Keshava Iyengar was found dead in a friend's room at Trinity College, Cambridge. An inquest concluded that the death of the 20-year-old, who had taken an overdose of anti-anxiety medication, was drug-related.
Police said it was not possible to prove that Benjamin Brown's actions caused it but he was sentenced for supplying and possessing drugs.
An investigation found messages on Keshava's phone from a dealer who went by the name Lean Xan Man.
