BRAVE double amputee schoolboy Tony Hudgell has undergone an emergency operation after breaking his hip.

The inspirational 10-year-old was taken to hospital on Saturday after his adoptive mother Paula heard him let out a "blood-curdling scream", with the youngster insisting he had heard his hip break.

The champion fundraiser, who was abused by his birth parents when he was a baby, which led to his legs having to be amputated, told Paula: "I heard it snap.
