WOMEN are dying needlessly from heart disease because it is portrayed wrongly as a man's problem, experts have warned.

In fact, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one killer of women worldwide.

Heart specialists in the UK have now laid bare disturbing "sex disparities" in the everyday care of patients.

They argue most CVD is preventable, so more should be done to ensure women get equal treatment.

Writing in the journal Heart, the experts said: "Globally, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women.
