A COMMONS aide has been charged with spying for China under the Official Secrets Act.

Chris Cash, 29, was working as a parliamentary researcher for the Government when arrested last year.

Yesterday the Crown Prosecution Service said he had been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday along with Christopher Berry, 32, also accused of espionage offences relating to China.

Nick Price, head of the CPS's special crime and counterterrorism division, said it had "authorised the Metropolitan Police" to charge the pair with "providing prejudicial information to a foreign state".
