Many will be cutting back on days and nights out this year, with 19 per cent eager to go on dates that cost nothing at all.
Based on previous years, the average amount a person would spend on Valentine’s Day was 91, with food and drink being the most popular gifts.

Last year, men spent an average of 93.88 while women splashed out 87.39.
