A man in his 60s died after two engines collided on a single track on Monday night. Fifteen other people received hospital treatment.
Reliving the terrifying crash, near Llanbrynmair in Powys, passenger Jonah Evans, 25, said: "The driver ran in, sat on a chair and said, 'Brace yourselves - we're about to hit a train'.
"Someone lost their teeth and cracked their ribs. But because the driver told us it was happening, we could get ready."
