While on the campaign trail, the president-elect repeatedly said he would act against those he perceived to have crossed him.
He often vowed to take legal action against everyone from President Joe Biden to Vice President Kamala Harris, former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney and ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
He also railed against perceived "enemies from within", threatening opponents with prosecution which has drawn comparisons to authoritarian regimes.
However, as fears grew of reprisals, podcaster Joe Rogan, whose 11th-hour endorsement of Trump is credited with giving the Republican with a huge election boost, appealed for him not to exact revenge.
"He's got to unite people. He's got to not attack the Left, not attack everybody. Let them all talk their s*** but unite," Rogan, who has more than a billion listeners, said of the election winner on the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. "Now it's time to unite everybody." In the final weeks of his campaign, the former reality star escalated promises of retaliation to a fever pitch. But he is still seething at the treatment he suffered.
