MORE than 6,000 bank branches have closed in the past nine years, figures show.
The 6,161 which have been shuttered since 2015 represent nearly two thirds, or 62%, of the network.
Yorkshire and the Humber has been worst hit with just 248 branches to serve 5.6 million people, or 4.4 branches per 100,000.
In January 2015, the region had 728 open branches, or 13 branches per 100,000 people.
