Drivers at 16 rail companies to strike in pay dispute

AGE OF THE PAIN

TRAIN drivers at 16 rail firms are planning to stage a fresh series of strikes over pay, hitting the week of the early May bank holiday.

Members of Aslef will walk out on May 7, 8 and 9 and ban overtime for six days from Monday, May 6.

The union said train drivers have not had a salary rise for five years, since their last pay deals expired in 2019.

It added that after its members voted overwhelmingly in February to continue taking industrial action, it asked operating companies for talks.
