BRITAIN'S armed forces will get a major shake-up to tackle the "deadly quartet" of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.
The government also vowed to "bolster Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression".
An independent commissioner will fight for troop welfare, and there will be an economic boost to the North through defence spending.
The overhaul will target 14 years of Tory defence cuts, bolster a "hollowed out" armed forces and reverse dwindling troop numbers.
