A MAN in his 60s has been arrested after an eight-year-old boy was fatally shot in the head at a farm.
The child was thought to have been hunting for rabbits with an adult with the permission of the landowner.
A gun accidentally discharged and he suffered critical injuries to his head and face, it is understood.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 2.50pm on Saturday.
The weapon was secured by police and the child was taken to hospital by air ambulance from the field in the village of Warcop, Cumbria. Police said yesterday the boy died overnight.
Officers arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of assault occasioning GBH.
