But the staff and drinkers had something else to discuss - England boss Gareth Southgate's resignation.
It was only after we convinced them we did not have any info on his replacement that talk turned to politics.
The Republican National Convention is happening five miles down the road but most locals we spoke to wished it were a million miles away.
One woman summed it up by saying: "I want that scumbag and his Nazi friends to get the hell outta here." Milwaukee is one of the brewing capitals of the world and boasts 37 bars for every 100,000 residents. So wherebetter to discuss American politics after such a traumatic week?
Pollsters believe the assassination attempt on Trump who again appeared at the RNC on Tuesday - has improved his election chances, because swing voters will feel sorry for him.
But sympathy for Trump is in short supply amongst the locals of this staunchly Democrat area.
Three Lions barman Pete Lund, 39, insisted: "My feelings for him haven't changed one bit.
