Saints alive in play-off hunt as cool Smith kicks last-gasp winner against Bath

FIN SMITH held his nerve to put over a last-minute penalty as Northampton beat the league leaders - and he knew just how big a moment it was.

In a pulsating match of nine tries, Bath had recovered from being 19 points down to lead with three minutes to go and outscore their opponents by five tries to four.

Smith racked up 15 points and sealed the win, after Sam Underhill had offended, to keep champions Saints in the hunt for the play-offs.

Man-of-the-match Smith said: "Before the last kick, I genuinely thought that this better go over as by missing the previous two, I thought I'd let the boys down.
