Smiler crash survivors big day 9 years on

ALTON Towers crash amputee Leah Washington said she’d had “the most amazing day” after tying the knot with Joe Pugh, her date when the horror accident took place nine years ago.

Loved ones said it was a perfect ceremony for a “truly inspirational” couple, who were involved in the Smiler roller coaster crash on their first date to celebrate being “official”.

Their excitement turned to horror when their carriage crashed into a stationary one at 50mph. Leah later lost her leg.

Since then she has shared her battles to walk, admitting she used to hide her prosthetic leg.
