HEWICK flew from the clouds for a Ladbrokes King George VI Chase triumph that was every bit as unlikely as it was dramatic.
At the halfway stage of Kempton Park's three-mile Boxing Day test, Shark Hanlon's stable star and jockey-of-the-moment Gavin Sheehan were toiling last of the six runners and on offer at 449-1 in running.
"If it wasn't the King George, I would probably have pulled up," admitted Sheehan, called up by the trainer to replace injured rider Jordan Gainford.
