JAMES Bond actor Rory Kinnear has told how he became determined that the death of his film star father would not overshadow his life.

Roy Kinnear died at the age of 54 after he was thrown from a horse while filming The Return of the Musketeers.

The accident in Spain in 1988 left Rory acutely aware of safety on film sets.

Roy was a familiar face on the big screen and on TV in the 70s and 80s, and is best known for playing Henry Salt in the 1971 film Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory, as well as Algernon in The Beatles' 1965 movie, Help!

Rory was 10 when his dad died and he told Radio Times how he handled the heartbreak: "It forms how you look at life.
