PHILLIP Schofield has emerged from the showbiz wilderness in a bid to rescue his shattered career... on a desert island.
The disgraced presenter tells viewers he wants to have his say on the affair with a junior member of staff that led to him quitting This Morning 16 months ago.
But things do not get off to a great start for the 62-year-old as the tropical island is hit by a storm.
In Channel 5's three-part show, Phillip Schofield: Cast Away, he tells how he is alone with just cameras and free to "say whatever I want about whatever I want".
Speaking about the "unwise but not illegal" fling with the male colleague that ruined his career, he says in a teaser to camera: "It's my chance to tell my side of my story.
"I know what I did was unwise but is it enough to absolutely destroy someone?"
His first day on the island, which is off Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, is spent setting up camp and hunting and fishing for food before he goes to bed.
But Schofield is woken in the night by a terrible storm.
With a gale hurling his camp into the air, he cries: "Bloody hell.
"Disaster has struck, howling wind blowing through everything, it's taken out all the front.
"This is about to tear itself to pieces and there's still every possibility that it will. I wasn't expecting that."
