ALISON Hammond is set to be the cherry on the cake for The Great British Bake Off by replacing Matt Lucas as its new host.
The This Morning favourite, who was a huge hit on the celebrity version of the contest in 2020, has been lined up to welcome 12 new bakers alongside comic Noel Fielding when the series returns to Channel 4 this summer.
Many fans had called for a woman to replace Little Britain star Lucas and bosses are expected to confirm her appointment within days.
A source said: "Alison is a great choice. She will bring warmth and humour to the tent in spades."
