Idris: Less talk more action to help young people like my son...

IDRIS Elba spoke from the heart as he met families whose lives have been torn apart by violence - and said he thinks of his own young son growing up amid the knife epidemic.

The actor, whose boy is 10 years old, yesterday joined a Downing Street summit with other campaigners, police and ministers on ending the scourge plaguing Britain's streets, launching a coalition to help tackle the problem.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has vowed to halve knife crime within the decade, with new legislation promised to ban ninja swords and tougher restrictions on online sales.

Idris, 52, who launched his Don't Stop Your Future campaign with the Mirror this year, told the summit: "Talk is good, but action is important. We aren't going to end knife crime. But we can tackle the attributes towards it.
