Van Dijk reveals brave goal hero Diaz wants Liverpool to use the pain and horror of his father's kidnapping to drive them on this season

VIRGIL VAN DIJK has revealed how Luis Diaz wants his kidnap torment to be a motivation for his Liverpool team-mates.

Diaz's parents were seized at gunpoint on October 28 and, while his mother was freed within hours, his dad is still missing.

Liverpool's Colombian winger scored an equaliser in stoppage time at Luton on Sunday before revealing a T-shirt that read 'Libertad Para Papa' ('Freedom for my Father'). Diaz then put out a statement calling on his father's captors to release him.

It has been a torturous time for the Liverpool forward but Dutch defender Van Dijk has revealed how Diaz is ensuring that it doesn't have a negative impact on the team.
