A BRITON freed from jail after the mercy killing of his ill wife in Cyprus will spend Christmas by her grave.
David Hunter, 76, was freed from a Nicosia jail in July after 19 months, following the death of childhood sweetheart Janice, 74, in December 2021.
He was cleared of premeditated murder and convicted of manslaughter but was released on time served.
David told his trial in Paphos that he smothered Janice after she begged him for weeks to end her life such was her suffering from terminal blood cancer.
