The figures for the year to April show the number of official engagements by the Royal Family fell from 2,700 to 2,300.
The Princess of Wales, 42, announced in March that she was having chemotherapy.
Kate and the King's double cancer diagnosis has forced them both away from public-facing duties.
The figures for official engagements are revealed in Buckingham Palace's annual accounts, the Sovereign Grant report, covering the first full financial year of the King's reign.
